“Authors I Can’t Write Without”

I am a story addict. I am addicted to reading. It is my love of reading that helped shape my love of writing. It’s symbiotic in some ways: I suck all the greatness from my favorite writers, nourishing my ability to put words on the page.
These are some of the authors that inspire me, that make me want to try harder in my writing. That make me better.
1. Roald Dahl
Such imagination! Roald Dahl taught me to twist and turn the normal into the bizarre. To stretch my creativity to mold ideas into stories that feel fresh and yet familiar in all the right ways. Favorite titles: ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ ‘Matilda,’ and ‘Tales of the Unexpected.’
2. Kate Morton
Beautiful, intoxicating words. Kate Morton’s writing is so amazing – her descriptions, her solid plots, her gothic se…

Little Dead Riding Hood - Release and Blog Tour!

Image
It's so hard to believe that in one week - Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 - Little Dead Riding Hood officially releases into the world and straight to the hands of readers. It's an overwhelming thought. Especially since it seems like only yesterday that I wrote that little sucker with my co-author, Bethanie. Second books have a way of sneaking up on you in a way that first books never could.

So I'm excited and scared about this new adventure. I hope you'll join the ride as I kick off the book tour tomorrow - Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 - at Adrienne Monson's blog. Be sure to stop by every blog during the tour as there will be prizes, prizes, prizes!!

Laura Diamond's THE ZODIAC COLLECTOR!

Image
WOW. Life has just been....CRAZY lately!! I'm a wee bit late getting this post up, but wanted you to know about Larua's book, The Zodiac Collector! Here's a little about the book and the wonderful author behind those thoughtfully crafted words! “For almost-16 year-old Anne Devans, the annual Renaissance Faire means three things—her dad spending weeks in the smithy, her bipolar mom doing some manic costume making, and another ruined birthday for her and her twin sister, Mary. This year, Anne wants things to be different, and she's going to do things her way. On the eve of the Faire, Anne (along with a reluctant Mary) conjures up a spell that will make their 16th birthday party a whirlwind event. Little do they know that it's a literal request. After the mini tornado in their room subsides, the girls realize they've invoked the power of the Gemini Twins, Castor and Pollux. That's the good news. The bad news is they also caught the attention of a sorceress named Z…

Guest Post by Splinters Author Fiona Carter

Image
A thrilling young adult novel that features two strong, independent  protagonists. Splinters mixes mystery, humor, and science fiction  in a way that will leave readers desperate for more.
Under ordinary circumstances, Ben and Mina would never have had  reason to speak to each other; he's an easy-going people person with a  healthy skepticism about the paranormal, and she's a dangerously  obsessive monster-hunter with a crippling fear of betrayal. But the small  town of Prospero, California, has no ordinary circumstances to offer. In  order to uncover a plot set by the seemingly innocent but definitely  shapeshifting monsters-that-look-like-friends-family-and-neighbors, the  two stark opposites must both find ways to put aside their differences  and learn to trust each other. Everyone who finds out that my husband and I coauthor seems to want to know how this can possibly work, so I'll try to give an honest rundown of the process.
