The Next Big Thing

We've all got them.  Those little hidden treasures, like the mom and pop shop in your town or the bakery down the street.  Maybe they serve the best apple pie in a hundred mile radius or they present a meal with a smile, knowing you by name when you walk through the door. Perhaps your favorite shop makes an organic goat milk soap that's soft on your skin, or they send your children cards on their birthday.  Whatever it is, these little-known gems make our individual world a better place.  But  what if they could be known everywhere - not just in your town? Wouldn't it be great if you could share that with others?

Just like those little gems in your hometown, there are many wonderful books that are waiting to be discovered. They're hidden with your next-door neighbor who self-published a children's picture book, or with the person at church who found a small press to publish their young adult romance.  Perhaps its even the lady who serves in the community that fou…

The Great Cinderskella Giveaway All

The Great CINDERSKELLA Giveaway #1!

As you might remember, I wrote about this contest here so hopefully you're revved up and just as excited about this contest as I am!

Just to remind you - the contest will run for 10 months.  Yes, 10 months!  There will be 9 mini-giveaways, each on the 26th of the month, with a grand prize drawing on the 10th month.  You'll have one week to enter each of the 9 mini contests before I close it out and select the monthly winner.  Every time you enter, it will be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing on my book release of October 26th!

So, my co-author and I have thought a lot about prizes and what you, our readers, would enjoy.  We've come up with some prizes that we happen to think are pretty awesome and we hope you do, too!

Today's prize is a pair of daisy earrings, similiar to the ones seen here

Why daisy earrings? I never thought you'd ask!

Daisies play an important role in the first few chapters of CINDERSKELLA. I don't want to give too muc…

Writer Friends

A few of my fellow publishing siblings have been tagged in The Next Big Thing blog tour! You should go check them out and get to know a little more about them and their upcoming books.

Eric Bishop

Bishop is an author version of Clint Eastwood. As much a cowboy as Jim, Bishop also owns a large ranch and several horses. When he’s not writing, Bishop loves to spend time with his wife and four lovely daughters. Unlike Jim, Bishop hasn’t had any run-ins with the Mafia. Yet.

Ann Marie Meyers

Meyers grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. She has a degree in languages and translates legal and technical documents from French and Spanish into English. She lives in Toronto, Ontario, with her husband and super energetic daughter. Meyers is an active member of SCBWI and facilitates a children's writing group twice a month.

The Great CINDERSKELLA Giveaway!

Well, I promised you a giveaway and a giveaway you shall receive!  I promise you, this one was worth the wait.  It is going to be beyond epic.  It's going to be SKINTASTIC!

Warning:This following blogpost is best read in a cheesy, infomercial voice with emphasis on adjectives, verbs, nouns, dates, and words found only in urban dictionaries.

As you know, later this year on October 26th, Cinderskella will be released into the world.  But honestly, I'm so excited about this that I'm like a little kid, a kid in a candy store, a kid at Christmas.  I'm wide-eyed with wonder, I'm squealing with excitement, I'm beside myself in anticipation!

I'm so excited about it that I can't wait until October to share the awesomeness!!

So here's the dealio.  Every month on the 26th I'm hosting a giveaway on my blog.

Big deal, you say?  Everyone has giveaways, you say?

Well not everyone has a Cinderskella-sized giveaway!

Here's the 411, the scoop, the moment …

My Character Flaw

This is where I should have a post about something book-ish but honestly, I'm tired, worn-down, and have the post-Christmas, winter-doldrum blues.

I'd rather be on a sandy beach with the sun shining down on me and a warm breeze blowing through my hair.

Instead, the sky is gray, it's been raining off and on and the temperature is too cool for my liking.

Normally that kind of weather would inspire me to write more; a perfect atmosphere for the characters I write and the worlds they live in.

Today, however, I'd rather take a nap and press the reset button. I suppose that's my biggest character flaw - I have a hard time working if the environment isn't perfect.

What about you?
