We Interrupt This Regularly Scheduled Program

Image
This month has gone by in a flash and I'm having a hard time believing that Halloween is only five days away. I hope you've been having a fantastic October and are gearing up for fun-filled Saturday with costumes and candy! Even if celebrating might be different this year, I hope you have a spooktacular night! Normally I'd continue to part 3 of my Mr. Not Me picture book journey (in case you missed it, you can read part 1 here and part 2 here) but I'm going to interrupt this regularly scheduled program and bring you something else instead. Part 3 will resume next week with extra special news!

If you haven't seen this great list of free books, hop on over and scoop up these fun reads before they're gone! Nine spooky (and not-so-spooky) stories just in time for Halloween!

Recently I was asked to read an ARC (advanced review copy) of a book for another author. I haven't finished just yet but the story, ohmygoodness, I'm telling you, this book is a must-read.…

Mr. Not Me Part 2

There's only 11 days until Halloween! If you're like me, you've probably been planning for the holiday and all things spooky for a while now! My house is all decked out, menu is planned, and movie is in queue. Things might be a bit different this year but we'll make the most of it, even if that means a socially distanced trick-or-treat or a fun alternative collecting candy around the house, watching great movies, or even having a campfire. If you find staying indoors is the way to go, I'd definitely suggest reading a chilling tale from this list.  What better way to enjoy some spooky fun than with these eerie tales? There's a dozen and a half great stories to choose from, including my short story, Dead Chimes! Free reads + Halloween = a spooky night of 18 new worlds to discover!Last week I shared part one of my tale of how Mr. Not Me came to be. Today, I have part two!

It was a difficult task to find this balance between illustration and text. I knew I needed to…

Mr. Not Me Part One

You might remember when I revealed the cover  and blurb for my very first picture book, Mr. Not Me, last week. In that post, I mentioned I'd return with more to the story. Well, that day is today! But it's quite the story, so I'm only sharing part of it with you today. Before I do, though, I wanted to share this really great list of books for tweens. I know how hard it is to find clean books with appropriate content for kids. My own children had particular reading needs and I know that's true for most families. Some children like to read up, maybe because they have a higher reading level. The problem is that the content is often too mature. I think you'll find some great titles on this list (Cinderskella is included!) that are appropriate for the young reader in your life. Let me know if you find something here that you love!

So back to the story behind Mr. Not Me...

When I was a little girl, if a mess was made or someone ate the last treat, my mom would ask us who di…

Mr. Not Me Cover Reveal

Happy October! This is such an exciting month! In addition to cool autumn weather and Halloween, our family will have birthday celebrations. I love this month and find so much joy in the changing of the leaves, campfires, sweaters, a mug of warm tea, fuzzy boots, and long walks amongst the backdrop of colorful days. As L.M. Montgomery said in Anne of Green Gables, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."There's another reason I'm really excited about this month. I have book news. Long awaited, hard earned book news. And ahhhhh! I'm just beside myself.

Before I share the news, I wanted you to know about a great list of books that you can find here. They're available this month only. And they're all free!

I am so excited to finally share the news I’ve been holding onto for a while! My very first picture book releases this November and today is the cover reveal!

There was so much love and hard work that went into this book. The story of M…
